Free bulk barcode generator

Hundreds of labels from one Excel list.

Make a whole run of barcodes or QR codes at once: job cards, bins, lot and serial numbers, cartons. Paste a list from Excel, upload a CSV or number a run, then print every label or download all the codes in one ZIP. No sign-up, and your list never leaves your browser.

code type

Copy one column from Excel and paste it here. Copy two columns and the second one is printed above each code as label text. Up to 2,000 labels at a time. Letters, numbers and symbols. The best all-round choice for labels used inside your company.

Printing opens your browser's print window. Choose your label printer, or “Save as PDF” to get a PDF of the labels. Set the scale to 100% (“actual size”), and print one sheet on plain paper first to check it lines up. The ZIP holds each code as its own image file, numbered in the order of your list.

your list — three ways to get it in

Three ways to make a run of labels

01

Paste from Excel

  1. 1Choose the code type.
  2. 2In Excel, select the column of values and copy it.
  3. 3Paste it into the box, one value per line.
  4. 4Copy two columns, and the second one prints above each code as label text.

02

Upload a CSV

  1. 1In Excel, choose File, then Save As, and pick “CSV (Comma delimited)”.
  2. 2Click “Upload a CSV” and choose the file.
  3. 3The first column becomes the code, the second the label text.
  4. 4Delete the heading row if your sheet has one.

03

Number a run

  1. 1Click “Number a run”.
  2. 2Type what comes before the number, such as LOT-, and the first number, such as 0001.
  3. 3Type how many labels you need.
  4. 4Click “Make the list”: LOT-0001, LOT-0002 and onwards.

output — paper, pdf or image files

Print the run, or download it

The same list gives you four kinds of output. Print one test sheet on plain paper first, with the scale at 100% (“actual size”).

Thermal label rolls

One label per page, sized to the roll: 50 × 25 mm, 38 × 25 mm, 75 × 50 mm, 100 × 50 mm or 100 × 150 mm. Choose your label printer in the print window.

A4 label sheets

24 labels (70 × 37 mm) or 65 labels (38.1 × 21.2 mm) to a sheet, on any office printer. A long list runs onto as many sheets as it needs.

A PDF

Click Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. The PDF keeps the label size you chose, so a print shop or another computer prints it the same way.

A ZIP of images

Every code as its own PNG or SVG file, numbered in the order of your list. PNG suits Word and Excel. SVG stays sharp at any size and suits design and label software.

which code, and before you print a thousand

Which code for a bulk run?

  • Code 128

Serial numbers, job cards, lot numbers and bins. Letters, numbers and symbols, and it reads on almost every scanner.

  • QR code

A run of links: each machine to its manual, each part to its drawing, each carton to its packing list. Any phone camera reads it.

  • Data Matrix

Small parts and tight spaces. It holds a long lot or serial number in a few millimetres and still reads when partly damaged.

  • EAN-13 and ITF-14

Products and cartons sold through shops and marketplaces, and only with numbers issued to your company by GS1 India.

All nine code types, and when to use each, are on the barcode generator. Selling in shops? Read GS1 barcode registration in India first.

Before you print a thousand labels

  1. 1

Settle the numbering before you print. Use one prefix per kind of item and a fixed width (LOT-0001, not LOT-1), so the labels sort in order. Never reuse a number, even after an item is gone.

  2. 2

Keep the list as the record. The Excel sheet, or wherever the list lives, says what each code stands for. The label is only a copy of one line of it.

  3. 3

Watch for repeats. Two labels with the same value scan as the same item. The generator points out values that appear more than once.

  4. 4

Print ten before you print a thousand. Print a few on plain paper to check the sheet lines up, then stick a few where they'll really live and scan them again after a few days.

  5. 5

Print in the order you'll use them. Sort the list by bin, rack or job before you paste it, so the roll comes out in the order you walk the shop floor.

Printers, label stock and scanners are covered in how to generate barcodes for your shop floor.

questions — and what each code stands for

Printing is one afternoon.

Knowing what each code stands for is every day after: which lot went into which job, which job is running late, where the latest drawing is. That usually sits across a few Excel sheets, an inbox and the team's WhatsApp groups.

We build custom systems for small and medium manufacturers that bring it into one place, and your team uses them through Youno, a work chat app as simple as WhatsApp.

How many barcodes can I make at once?

Up to 2,000 in one run. For a longer list, split it and make a second run. There's no limit on how many runs you make, and no sign-up or watermark.

Can I make QR codes in bulk?

Yes. Choose QR code as the code type, then paste a list of links or text, one per line. Each QR code holds its link directly, so it keeps working for as long as the link does, with no account or subscription behind it.

How do I make serial numbers?

Click “Number a run”. Type what comes before the number (for example LOT-), the first number (0001) and how many you need. Leading zeros set the width, so 100 labels run from LOT-0001 to LOT-0100 and sort in order.

Can I upload an Excel file?

Save it as a CSV first: in Excel, choose File, then Save As, and pick “CSV (Comma delimited)”. Or copy the columns and paste them into the box. The first column becomes the code and the second, if there is one, the label text.

Can I download the barcodes as images?

Yes. “Download PNGs (ZIP)” and “Download SVGs (ZIP)” save every code as its own file, numbered in the order of your list.

Can I get the labels as a PDF?

Yes. Click Print and choose “Save as PDF” as the printer. The PDF keeps the label size you chose, so you can send it to a print shop or print it later.

Is my list safe?

Your codes are made in your own browser. Nothing you paste or upload is sent to us or to anyone else, so job numbers, customer names and links stay on your computer.
