Free QR code generator

Static QR codes that never expire.

A free barcode and QR code generator for links, drawings, manuals and labels. Every QR code it makes is static: the link sits inside the code itself, so there's no account, no scan tracking and nothing that stops working when a trial ends. Make one, or hundreds from an Excel list, and nothing you type leaves your browser.

code type

Holds a web link or a short note, and reads with any phone camera.

Printing opens your browser's print window. Choose your label printer, or “Save as PDF” to get a PDF of the labels. Set the scale to 100% (“actual size”), and print one sheet on plain paper first to check it lines up.

Static QR codes never stop working

Many “free” QR code websites make dynamic codes. A dynamic code doesn't hold your link: it holds a short link to the provider's server, which then sends the visitor on to your page. That lets you change the destination and count scans, but every code you've printed depends on that provider. When the free trial ends, the subscription lapses or the provider shuts down, the codes stop working, often on labels and packs you can't reprint.

qr codes on the shop floor

Where QR codes help on the shop floor

  • Machines. A code on each machine opens its manual, maintenance checklist or breakdown log.

  • Job cards. Opens the drawing or the shared folder for that job, so whoever scans sees the latest revision.

  • Bins and parts. Opens the part's drawing or specification sheet.

  • Cartons. Opens the packing list or the delivery details for that shipment.

  • Safety and visitor instructions. Opens the instructions in the reader's language, on their own phone.

  • Your products. Opens your catalogue, a product page or a contact form for your customers.

a qr code that opens whatsapp

A QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat

Customers and suppliers in India often prefer WhatsApp to a form. To make a code that opens a chat with your sales or service number, type a link in this form into the generator:

https://wa.me/919876543210

That's 91 for India, then the 10-digit mobile number, with no plus sign, spaces or leading zero. Add ?text= and a message to fill in the first line for them, with %20 for each space: ?text=Price%20enquiry.

qr codes that scan

Print QR codes that scan

  • Size it for the distance. A common rule of thumb: make the code at least a tenth as wide as the distance people scan it from. Scanned at arm's length, that's about 2 to 3 cm.

  • Keep the link short. A long link makes a denser code with smaller squares, which needs to be printed bigger.

  • Leave the border. A QR code needs a blank margin of four squares on every side. The generator adds it.

  • Damage is allowed for, up to a point. The generator uses the standard medium level of error correction, which rebuilds the code when about 15% of it is dirty or missing.

  • Scan it before you print the run. With two or three different phones, from the distance people will really stand.

questions — and what the scan connects to

Point the code at one place.

A QR code is only as good as the page it opens. If the drawing behind it is last month's revision, the scan just sends someone the wrong drawing faster.

We build custom systems for small and medium manufacturers that keep jobs, drawings and updates in one place, and your team uses them through Youno, a work chat app as simple as WhatsApp. Then the code on the job card always opens the current version.

Do these QR codes expire?

No. Each code holds your link or text directly, so it keeps working for as long as the link does. There's no account, trial or subscription behind it that could end.

Can I change the link after printing?

Not in the code itself. If you may need to change it, point the code at a page you control, such as a page on your own website or a shared folder, and change what's on that page instead.

Can I count how many people scan it?

Not from the code, because nothing passes through us. If the link goes to your own website, add a tag such as ?utm_source=qr to the end of it, and your website's analytics will count the visits that came from the code.

Can I add a logo to the QR code?

Not with this generator. A logo covers part of the code and relies on error correction to fill the gap, which makes it harder to scan from a distance or on a worn label. Plain codes scan most reliably.

How do I make a QR code that opens WhatsApp?

Use a link in the form https://wa.me/919876543210: 91 for India, then the 10-digit mobile number, with no plus sign, spaces or leading zero. Scanning it opens a WhatsApp chat with that number.

Can I make QR codes in bulk?

Yes. Switch to “Many labels” and paste a list of links from Excel, one per line, or upload a CSV. Then print them all as labels, or download every code in one ZIP.

Is it free for business use?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, and no limit on how many codes you make or print.
